- The Vineyard Foreman will play a crucial role in overseeing all aspects of vineyard management, ensuring the highest quality of grape production. This position is a diverse and hands-on role. Requiring expertise in viticulture, leadership and management skills, mechanical knowledge and a commitment to maintaining the health and productivity of our vineyards.
- Supervise daily operations of the vineyard, including pruning, canopy management, irrigation, and harvest activities.
- Manage seasonal workforce, providing training, direction, and ensuring tasks are completed to a specific standard in a timely manner.
- Monitor vine health and development and assist with implementing pest and disease control measures.
- Collaborate with management and winemaking team to align vineyard practices with wine production goals.
- Maintain and operate vineyard equipment, ensuring its proper care and functionality.
- Develop and implement a vineyard record keeping system.
- Track and report vineyard performance, including yields, soil conditions, watering amounts etc.
- Reviewing current practices, develop and implement practical improvements with a focus on improving vineyard and fruit quality.
- Working in other facets of the business as required by the season.
- Proven experience in vineyard management.
- Understanding of viticulture practices, including pest control, irrigation systems, and canopy management.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team, and contribute positively as a team player.
- Must demonstrate a cooperative attitude and a commitment to team dynamics.
- Excel at collaboration and works will and contributes positively achieving team goals.
- Mechanical aptitude for operating and maintaining vineyard equipment.
- Proficiency in tracking and analyzing vineyard data.
- Formal qualifications will be looked upon favourably, but not required.
- Flexibility to work seasonal hours and adapt to varying weather conditions.
- Flexibility to work in other facets of the business as required.
- Wages of $30-35/h dependant on experience and qualification.
